Change is hard, but essential to growth. Progression in any type of skateboarding teaches this very well. A person can learn how to do a trick or slide and perfect it and do it very well, but if they don't take a risk and step out of their comfort zone and try something new, they won't ever progress. What is interesting with skateboarding is when you take that step out of the comfort zone, the more likely you are to fall and get hurt. Life is the same way. Taking that next step, be it a new job, moving or anything along those lines can result in a lot of discomfort and pain. Leaving friends and family and trying to carve out a new niche is difficult to say the least. But life is often like walking through a field of roses. While you are doing it, all you notice is the pain of the thorns, but when you look back, you see the beauty of your journey.
The trick is to make a choice that you will succeed with change. I plan on doing just that. I plan on spreading #skatetofight and its mission to the skateboarders I meet here in New Mexico. I plan on taking this experience and letting it change me into something new and better. I believe that each of us have the same potential to take anything hard and new in our lives and use it to our advantage.
