A lot of #skatetofight's purpose is to promote balance in life. From the cellular level to the whole of Earth's atmosphere, balance is necessary to maintain high quality of life. I think the reason finding balance is such a hot topic for those with depression or chronic stress is because they feel constantly out of balance.
Opposites are part of life.. Light and dark, hot and cold, ying and yang. We would not understand one without the other. By finding the middle ground, we find our center of balance.
I have heard people compare life to a car where each wheel represents a different aspect of life. Social, spiritual, mental and physical. When one of these is off balance or missing, the car cannot function properly, if at all. I have found it helpful to examine my life and see what aspect I need to improve to find better balance. And believe me, it is a work in progress.
With all of this being said, it is important to remember that no matter how much we work on balancing our lives, there are some things outside of our control. In skating, no matter how many wheels you try and how perfect of a wheel you think you have found, there are always factors outside of your control. The pavement might be hot making a wheel more slippery or there may be gravel or uneven asphalt. There are any number of factors that can upset the balance you have tried to establish.
